Summary/Abstract: The acceptance of Christianity in Bulgaria during IX century set the beginning of the systematic Bulgarian-Georgian church and cultural relations. To prove his statement that since ancient times, there are steady contacts in the religious and cultural field between the two nations, the author traces and analyzes the written and artistic historic and church sources related to the subject. The stress of the research falls on the monasteries at Bachkovo, Izver and Veljusa, but with attention to other holy cloisters, which bear record on the systematic Bulgarian-Georgian contacts also. The article examines as well XIV century sources that supplement the general picture on the subject. Outlined are the fundamental events, connected with the subject during the period of XIX.XX century.
