Summary/Abstract: Professor Pranas Dovydaitis (1886-1942), a Lithuanian encyclopedist, is the author of some mathematical articles which were published in the periodicals Cosmos, Logos, Pedagogic Activity, and Friend of Nature. They can be divided into three topical groups: the history and philosophy of mathematics, the popularisation of mathematics, and mathematical didactics. In the articles in the first group, Dovydaitis writes about the mathematical and mathematical-philosophical achievements of R. Bacon, L. da Vinci, I. Kant, P.S. Laplace, C.F. Gauss, and E. Husserl. In the second group belong articles on the theory of numbers; in the third, articles promoting the visual way of teaching. The mathematical works of Dovydaitis significantly enriched the intellectual life of Lithuania in 1920-1940.
