Pranas Dovydaitis: The Cultural-Religious Aspect of Education

Summary/Abstract: In the article, the understanding of education by Dovydaitis is considered. Dovydaitis maintained that educational strategy depends on Weltanschauung, chosen values and admired ideas, especially the understanding of the meaning and final end of human life. Therefore, the number of educational theories corresponds to the number of various Weltanschauungs. The majority of them are religious. In educational practice, religion and culture interact, producing a peculiar type of personality, which in its own turn influences both of them.
