Summary/Abstract: Stefan Augustin Doinas entitled his essay on Mihai Eminescu’s poem "Ode (in Antic Meter)", Oda (in metru antic) “Verse of the Four Superlatives “. The four superlatives: (arid, philosophical, obscure, and pathetic) give the first verse in the poem: "Nu credeam să-nvăt a muri vreodată" (I didn’t think I would ever learn to die), and make the theme of the four sections of the essay.
