The Promotion of Cultural Heritage as Illustrated by the Sci-fEAST Project: Cinematic Science-Fiction in Central and Eastern Europe

Summary/Abstract: The following article is an introduction to a student research project whose goal is to create an online science-fiction film database as a part of a cross-border cooperation of Polish, Czech, Slovak and Hungarian universities. Science-fiction productions are not a marginal phenomenon in the history of the Polish cinema but until now there has been no solid research in this field. Thanks to the fact that sci-fi films are present in every period of development of the national cinema, they mirror social and cultural changes in the country. The aim of the Sci-fEAST project is to promote these films as they are a contemporary cultural heritage.
