Summary/Abstract: Polish artists Ferdynand Ruszczyc and Lithuanian artist Mikalojus Ciurlionis were friends. They met in Warsaw and they continued their friendship in Wilno where they both lived after 1908. In 2001, the National Museum in Warsaw organized an exhibition of Vciurlionis’ pictures. In 2004, the Art Centre in Wilno organized an exhibition of pictures by young Polish artists, which was entitled ‘Under White-and-Red- Flag’ The ‘VV-WwW’ exhibition was organized by a group of both Polish and Lithuanian artists. The show included 150 pictures, the pieces of sculpture and installations by 64 Polish artists and 104 art pieces by 59 Lithuanian artists. Augustinas Savickas is one of the best Lithuanian artists. He was born in 1919 in Kopenhagen, and studied at the AFA in Wilno. He was a professor at that academy from 1951 to 1972, and from 1985 to 1993. He published a book on Ciurlionis. He is an expressionist painter, and was influenced by the Die Bruecke style. Aldrigas Petrulis (b.1915) studied in Kowno and Wilno. He is an abstract colorist and was influenced by Ecole de Paris and Robert Delaunay’s style. After 1990, he exhibited in Western Europe and the U.S.A. Aldonas Jacovskis was born in 1948. Currently, he is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wilno. He is interested in graphic art and theatre stage design. He received Quadrennial Theater Design award in 1983 and the award from the Baltic Sea Theatre Design Triennial in 1985. He exhibited in Germany, Japan, Italy, Holand and Finland. Robert Bliuj studied art in Warsaw (1997). He exhibited in Warsaw, Czêstochowa and Legnica. He is a figurative artist and was influenced by the Neue Sachlichkeit style. His nude studies show female figures and flat background without any ornaments. Diana Radaviciute and Birute Stancikaite showed interesting aquafortas. Keistutis Vasiliunas showed masterly woodcuts. The group of Polish artists showed their work in Wilno. The group included: S. Gierowski, J. Szajna, T. P¹gowska, J. Mierzejewski, G. Zemla, T. Dominik, E. Dwurnik, M. Sobczak, I. Wojewoda-Jedynak, A. Chaberek, M. D¹browski, M. Gurowska and E. Olszewska- -Banecka.
