Some remarks on the economic forecasting

Summary/Abstract: The authoress confronts future’s visions done by belles-lettres and scientific forecasts emphasizing the role of the latter in diminishing the fear of future. She points out essential differences between forecasting made by exact and social sciences. She demands that social and, especially, economic forecasters should be more responsible for the quality of forecasts, what may be achieved, among other things, by revealing assumptions accepted for constructing forecasts and publication of the results of forecasting. The authoress gives the classification of forecasting methods based on general forecasting assumptions.
