Summary/Abstract: The author deals with the use of toponyms covering the current Czech Republic area in England (Great Britain) since the middle ages up to the 1950’s. His major focus is on the use of German and Czech toponyms forms and on the relationship between them. He is also concerned with the effort the Czech government made in the 1920’s to enforce Czech toponyms in Britain (till then only German forms had been in use). Regarding the development of English exonyms, though, the transition from German to Czech endonyms had been only of marginal influence (e. g. Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Prague).
