Summary/Abstract: The narrative of Juan Marsé abounds in biographical elements. His literary texts are based especially on his life experience as a child in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War in Barcelona. In what way and to what extent does the author involve himself in his work? What sort of transformation do his texts attest to, up to his latest novel, Caligrafía de los sueños (Calligraphy of Dreams)? The study seeks to answer these questions through textual analysis. Three texts have been chosen – three very different examples that testify how the author can be glimpsed through his creation: a short text entitled El peor verano de mi vida. Ayudante de laboratorio (The Worst Summer of My Life. Laboratory Assistant - 2000) and two novels, Si te dicen que caí (If They Tell You I Fell - 1973) y Caligrafía de los sueños (Calligraphy of Dreams - 2011).
