Summary/Abstract: In this paper an analysis is made that identifies the knowledge and non-explicit meanings in discursive utterances made by scholars that speak freely about the activities they perform in this public university in northern Mexico. They have a wide trajectory in the university, they teach different disciplines and have conducted the activities they mentioned. This analysis is part of a wider investigation that also aims to identify scholars’ perceptions, ideas and beliefs and has as a methodological background the critical discourse analysis (CDA), offering valuable aids in the social investigation. One can identify in the texts the scholars’ speech acts and knowledge. The elements of knowledge are the result of various ways of comprehending the awareness of their social, political, cultural, religious or scientific limits. The knowledge that scholars have is impregnated with concepts of their discipline, pedagogy, science, knowledge that is manifested in its practices and discourses that are generated in the university. Many of these pieces of knowledge are redefined or reconfigured according to the necessities of the academic curriculum and to the establishment where these scholars perform their activities, but, in the end, they are an expression of the teachers’ subjectivity.
