Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the topic of poetry written in Slovakia and Macedonia of the 1950s, when these authors began to write their works. Milan Rufus and Mateja Matevski rank yet among the most significant contemporary Slovak and Macedonian poets. It deals with the theoretical and critical aspect and terminology of this topic and it focuses on the comparative interpretation of some of their poems written until 1960s. The purpose of the paper is to investigate and analyze the different poetical symbols as well as symbolical worlds of Milan Rufus and Mateja Matevski.
