Summary/Abstract: During different periods of research, archaeologists that conducted excavations within Roman necropolises from the territory of the former Dacia province have put into circulation diverse typologies for studied Roman graves. We considered a presentation of the most important typologies proposed by Romanian archaeologists for studying Roman graves from Roman Dacia necessary: Octavian Floca, Dumitru Protase, Mircea Babes, Ioan Andritoiu and E. Dumitrascu. The case study represented by the urban centre Apulum for aspects of economic, military and social life from Roman Dacia is essential for the leading position held by this settlement throughout the whole development of urban life in Dacia province. This is why, also aspects concerning funerary archaeology of the urban centre Apulum should come to the forefront of this archaeologic field of the province north of the Danube, if it were to underline only the fact that at this time, the number of discoveries of funerary complexes in Apulum is represented by more than 1700 graves (cremation and inhumation), placed in more funerary areas, out of which, obviously, two big necropolises may be detached. The Roman necropolis from ”Stadion / Statia de Salvare”, occupies a surface of approximately 5 ha, 98 percent of the total surface being researched and more than 1024 graves of both rituals having been unearthed (the data base for graves is still in progress). As far as the typology of funerary complexes from ”Stadion”, Roman necropolis from Apulum is concerned, we will approach the funerary complexes according to criteria proposed by M. Babes and mentioned above, and the schematic approach is made for the two funeral rites: inhumation, respectively cremation.
