Analytic Inflectional Noun Forms in Ontogenesis of Polish

Summary/Abstract: The paper shows the significant role of prepositional phrases in children's speech. At the beginning of grammar development (the second part of the second year of age) the child acquires synthetic noun forms, but in a short time analytic structures occur (with the omission of the preposition at first). Until the end of five years the number of preposition-noun units rises systematically. Thanks to analytic noun forms, it is possible for the child to achieve functional variety of noun phrases in speech.
