The Intertextual Function of Myth in the Period of Fin de Siècle and the Avantgarde

Summary/Abstract: The paper starts with the contention that by studying attitudes towards myth, we can describe the epistemological model of a given period. In order to prove this, the concepts underlying turn of the century literature and philosophical writing are compared to the literary and theoretical writing in the period of the avantgarde. The concepts underlying these periods are described in the terms of intertextual methodology introduced by French semiologists.
