Summary/Abstract: The article tries to sum up a theoretical debate on the so-called hybrid regimes. The authors' main interest is to compare the arguments used for the identification of this type or regime as special one (Diamond, Levitsky, Schedler) with classical theory and methodology of non-democratic regimes (Linz). Authors prefer the understanding of hybrid regimes as transitional (from. to.), not naturally non-democratic system category. From this point of view, theory of hybrid regimes, dominating at the end of 90th of XX century and at the beginning of XXI century, represents attempt at sui generis paradigmatic change in this field of research. Analysing of contemporary so-called post-communist regimes, this analytical frame, bounded with transitional period, is actually more or less empty. Evaluating non-democracies in this area, it is necessary to use methodological instruments or classical theory of non-democratic regimes.
