Summary/Abstract: The socialist regime that came into being in Yugoslavia after the Second World War produced a new kind of urban planning that is commonly recognized as being „socialist,“ embodied in such projects as Novi Beograd, a new city center for the capital. This article investigates how the socialist regime also produced a critique of this „socialist“ urban planning in the late 1960s, focusing on the role of specialists working within the regime, particularly social scientists and urban designers.
