Summary/Abstract: The results of representative sociological research concerning the openness of the Slovak public to the right-wing extremism ideas in 2012 have confirmed that in the Slovak Republic there are 4 per cent of inhabitants sharing ultra-right-wing ideas, and at the same time showing willingness to support with their votes in elections political parties offering a radical solution. Simultaneously, there are also 7 per cent of inhabitants sharing ideas characteristic for right-wing extremism, and they are willing to support them actively at citizen meetings. As for the social distance scale, the Slovaks declare clear distaste for drug abusers and the Gypsies. Out of the total number of people feeling to be restricted and bothered by other groups (22 per cent), a majority points to the Roma as the source of their restriction. The attitude of the civic public in seeking solutions as for living together with the problem groups has shifted towards „resolute and radical solutions“. These are preferred more often by younger than by older people. The citizens have stated that the well-established democratic political parties are not able to find solutions with respect to the integration of marginalized groups into the social system of the country, they are not able to prevent the environment devastation, and to secure the citizen security and law enforcement.
