Summary/Abstract: The article approaches the theme of libraries - organizations which have passed through many transformations over the centuries - in the context of changes generated by globalization and continuous development of information and communication technologies and underlines the fact that in these conditions libraries must reform their management, adapt permanently the services and products they provide to their users in order to maintain and strenghten an important position on the information delivery and knowledge transfer market.
