Cinema in the Lives of Kaunas Citizens (1918-1940)

Summary/Abstract: Cinema was one of the most popular leisure time activities among all social groups of Kaunas citizens in 1918-1940. Thus, this article aims to analyse the effect of the cinema on the lives of the Kaunas inhabitants. A particular attention is given to the relation between the contingent of the cinema goers, and particular film theatres and repertoires. Further on, the most popular films and genres among the residents of Kaunas and its suburbs are compared.
