Historical Being and its Axiological Substantiation

Summary/Abstract: The authors interpret the category of historical being with the help of the categories of culture and civilization. The category of culture is rendered as the overall results of human activity regardless of their value-negative or value-positive content. The category of historical being reveals itself in the dialectics and the evolutionary changes in the correlation between the value-positive and the value-negative aspects of the results of human activity. The category of civilization may be involved in the consideration of this dialectics. These general theoretical premises are investigated on the basis of the historical material of the value-orientation shift in the European spiritual culture in the 16th and the 17th century.
