Summary/Abstract: The Polish language of a Toruń song book (Passion and Resurrection songs) The subject of this article is the language of 55 songs about the Passion and Resurrection from a Toruń song book published in the Koteniusz publishing house in 1601. The author is claimed to be a Lutheran priest – Piotr Krzesichleb, known also as Piotr Artomiusz. The analysis of the material showed that the language of songs reflects condition of the Polish language at that time. One can notice attempts to normalize the language of the 16th centuary. Words influenced dialectally appear seldom. If they do, they are mainly dialects from Wielkopolska (Great Poland), very rarely from the chełmińsko-dobrzyński land (that is from the land where the song book was created). The texts follow the models of the period (also the graphic area), which proves a high level of Toruń publisching house and good condition of the Polish language at the time.
