Summary/Abstract: The paper is an attempt for a complex interpretation of Thomas Glavinic's novel „Der Kameramörder“. The murder of two children depicted in there impresses with signs of violence and cruelty, while author's beloved persuasive figures are irritation and absurd intensifying of suspense. The paper is composed of two parts. In the first of them the priority is given to a traditional interpretation which suggests itself at once, a pure literary one, where emphasis is put on language. In the second part an alternative interpretation is underlined: despite the apparent suggestions of the plot the narrator wasn't the perpetrator but one of many possible offenders. Thus the weight of interpretation is moved towards medial and social aspects.
