Summary/Abstract: The systemic transformation in Poland has political, economic, demographic, social as well as cultural and psychological character, which states the principles of functioning of individuals, social groups and institutions including universities. The cultural change analyzed in the context of acculturation process means the necessity of adaptation of relatively new culture values: equality, individualism, cultural masculinity and new openess in new situation. There are four possible attitudes towards this process: separation, marginalization, assimilation and integration, which are connected also with university as the institution and social environment. The analysis of these attitudes shows their aspects and consequences. In the situation of cultural change remembering the mission of the University is needed as it states possible, permissible and desirable changes.
