Summary/Abstract: The report is an attempt to demythologize Vuk Karadzić as "the father of the Serbian Cyrillic" in the context of the historiographical facts and the educational policy implemented in the Habsburg monarchy on whose territory the Serbian Cyrillic has been reformed. The radical changes of the Serbian Cyrillic is the work of two other Serbs from the Military border (Vojna Krajina) – Sava Mrkalj and Luka Milovanov. In the grammar from the 1814. Karadzić applies their graphical decisions and later in the dictionary from 1818. the changes made are without functional value. In this regard his reforming activity considering the Cyrillic alphabet cannot be taken into account separately, but only as a continuation of their ideas and the political ambitions of Jernej Kopitar as a reflection of Austrian geopolitical interests.
