Summary/Abstract: Daily mobility plays an important role in creating spatial relations, especially within highly urbanized areas. The complexity of those linkages became a reason for initiating a research project tackling spatial relations between small towns and the metropolis in case of Łódź Metropolitan Area. The project was aimed at the identification of spatial pattern and measuring the scale of linkages which are generated by people commuting to places of work and education (their daily mobility). The project assumed conducting a survey among the households which were chosen on the basis of random route method. The survey was conducted in 10 small towns of Łódź Metropolitan Area in 2010-2013. Over 3.6 thousand households and 12 thousand people were examined, which equals almost 10% of small towns’ total population.
