Summary/Abstract: Paper focuses on fatherhood of migrants. It tries to answer the question how situation of migration influences the way fatherhood is conducted. The first part of the text presents analysis of research results given by other researchers in the literature of the subject. It presents different attitudes toward defining fatherhood, sociological concept of father’s role and also role of new father. Also the phenomenon of fatherhood crisis, its reasons and consequences, has been analysed here. The second part of the paper presents results of author’s original research. The quality research was conducted in two groups: migrant families and families without experience of migration. Description of experience of migrant fathers and how they perform the role of a distant father has been described, and comparison of bringing up strategies of migrant and non-migrant fathers has been presented. Also the conditions and circumstances of being transnational father have been taken into account.
