THE EFFECTS OF EMOTIONAL CONTENT ON MEMORY IN PATIENTS WITH ALZHEIMER’S DEMENTIA

Summary/Abstract: Over the past decade, there has been increasing evidence describing the impact of emotional features of dementia on both the distinct and broader social arrangements, emotion processing in Alzheimer’s disease, the key function of the amygdala in handling negative emotions, and behavioral and psychological symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease patients. As a result of these earlier research findings, this paper seeks to determine neurodegenerative modifications in Alzheimer’s disease, emotion processing capacity in corticobasal syndrome (CBS), the effect of normal adult aging on facial expression identification, and emotional memory in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The objective of this paper is to emphasize the emotional memory effect in aging and Alzheimer’s disease, emotion and memory in sound and memory-impaired older adults, and the identification of emotional and nonemotional facial characteristics in Alzheimer’s disease.
