Unpredictability of the environment of modern organizations

Summary/Abstract: Prediction at the strategic level constitutes one of the biggest management challenges since one of the specific features of the functioning of modern enterprises is the increasing uncertainty of the conditions of their operation. This is due to the increase in complexity of both the environment and the organizational structures of enterprises and their alliances, networks, and other forms of cooperation. The aim of the paper is to present the sources of unpredictability of activities of modern enterprises in the conditions of globalization and development of information technology, and the increase in complexity of modern society. The subject of discussion in this paper are the relations between unpredictability of the business environment with the increasing complexity of social systems. This phenomenon is treated as a specific determinant of strategic management in the modern world.
