Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is the presentation of pro-ecological strategies to verify the possibility of their use to increase the competitive advantage of enterprises. It is particularly important in the time of crisis. This topic is also important for practitioners in the context of the possibility of obtaining funds for development within the framework of the new financial perspective of the EU (the Europe 2020 strategy). Different approaches to defining the competitiveness of enterprises and competitive advantage are discussed. In the work there are presented proecological factors (as environmental management systems and EMAS) affecting the competitive position of companies (key success factors). The selected literature has been analyzed to determine what types of pro-ecological strategies can be the best source of the competitive advantage. It has been shown that the use and improvement of pro-ecological offensive and innovative strategies is a strategic issue for the competitiveness of companies in the long term.
