Summary/Abstract: The presented study deals with the German-language theories of the postdramatic or also non dramatic theatrical texts analyses, that were – in the connection with the former theatre practice – formulated in the late 20th century. The main focus is on the structural transformations of the traditional dramatic form, which gained completely new qualities, including the text theatricality, shaping as a theatrical text through the self-reflexive and metadramatical levels and the language experiments. The sample analysis of work by the contemporary Austrian playwright Ewald Palmetshofer subsequently demonstrates which concrete specific features these so-called theatrical texts have and where the theatricality occurs. The analytical section also supports to what extent these theories are still relevant for the research of the contemporary German-language drama.
