Influence of technical innovation on citizens’ residential choices. A historical perspective

Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the influence of technological progress on the location choices of city dwellers. The aim of this study was to reveal how the housing preferences of different social groups evolved over the centuries and what influenced changes in the perception of properties’ value in different historical periods. The paper is intended to initiate academic discussion about potential impact of current developments in the field of communication technology and transportation on the location choices of citizens.
