Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the activities of transportation policy in the great Canadian cities: Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Transportation policy should integrate the development of spatial and transport systems, which are both part of land use planning, as well as the development of shape. A significant role in the context of the declared principles of sustainable development, the development of alternative forms of accounts for public transport and bicycle. At the beginning of the twenty-first century as a result of a large urban congestion traffc congestion tends to be strong rapid development of various forms of public transport, which will permanently change the modal split and reduce the environmental nuisance of urban traffc and reduce of transportation needs in urban spatial structure. Proposals for possible implementation in Polish conditions are presented, too.
