Summary/Abstract: The article presents the Polish adaptation of the measure called Aspiration Index, designed by T. Kasser and R. Ryan. The tool is used to measure two types of aspirations – intrinsic (personal development, relationships with others, community feeling) and extrinsic (wealth, fame, image), as well as health aspirations. Results of three studies were presented. The first study demonstrated a good fit of the authors’ seven factors model and a satisfactory reliability of each aspiration. Results of the second study showed a positive relationship of intrinsic aspirations with positive feelings and subjective well-being. The third study demonstrated a positive relationship between extrinsic aspirations – wealth, popularity and image – and the materialistic orientation. The instrument has proved to be internally accurate, theoretically valid and reliable.
