Summary/Abstract: The emergence of anthropology in the field of Eastern European social sciences at the beginning of the 1980s is a phenomenon that involved researchers from different domains. Notwithstanding the history of this discipline in the political and cultural context in which it has been born – that is, Western Europe –, its first appearance within the academic milieu of Eastern Europe triggered situations of conflict and institutional reconfigurations. In this article, the method I use for unearthing features of this phenomenon is a narrative of my personal educational history.
