Variations on a Certain Pact. The Gonzo Journalism

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to define gonzo journalism in the context of the debate on the "literariness" and "journalistic" nature. The quasi-reportage by Ziemowit Szczerek "Przyjdzie Mordor i nas zje" [Mordor will come and eat us] is compared with the texts by Hunter S. Thompson and reportage books by Jacek Hugo-Bader. The author tries to answer the question about the consequences of introducing a fictional narrator for the "journalistic nature" of a text, and what determines the factual pact with the reader.
