Summary/Abstract: As a consequence of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, Islam and Muslims, unfortunately contrary to reality, have been presented as terrorists. It has been said that Islam born terrorism and the terrorism is a “love child” of Islam and that Islamic studies could be presented as an estimating factor of terrorism. Promoters of such thoughts either had no idea about a life-giving spirit of Islamic teachings or their intention was to exploit this opportunity to strike an attack to Islam and Muslims! This paper intends to clear these completely unsubstantiated accusations on Islam, based on International Islamic Law, that is, Qur’an verses, hadith and numerous oral traditions (sunnah and biography). Logic-wise, the authors see the connection between Islam and terrorism a connection of “contradiction”. They will present arguments that foundations of authentic Islamic teachings have not origin or congruity with branches and phenomena of terror and terrorism. In other words, the spirit of Islam strongly objects political violence and intimidation of innocent persons and strongly condemns such repressive measures. So, terrorism, being one of the most serious and deadliest threats to world peace and safety, is condemned and rejected in all its shapes and forms, whoever and wherever it came from, by whatever means and goals it followed. So, we have always believed and believe that, unlike Machiavellian teachings, where “the end justifies the means”, the end – as much as it is legal – does not justify the means. Based on this, Islamic Law is a source not to be neglected because Islam is a segment that offers solutions in the fight against terrorism, never a source of problems.
