Transformation or transition? Definitional deliberations

Summary/Abstract: In the article the author discusses two types of terms defining the transition process in Central and Eastern Europe and demonstrates the similarities and differences in the use of these terms. The collapse of communist regimes in different countries of the Eastern bloc has created the opportunity to study and analyze the processes of transition and transformation. The far-reaching differences that occurred at the time in the formation of different institutional arrangements have resulted in contrast and different attributes and achievements.
