Summary/Abstract: One of the best known types of iconic image in the Eastern Orthodox Church is the icon of Christ Pantocrator. The genesis of this type of icon goes back to the times of Early Christianity. This iconic presentation is to be connected with the theme of the Ascension and the problem of pictorial renderings in sacral painting – the question of the Second Coming (Parousia) of Jesus Christ in God’s Glory on the earth, to judge the living and the dead (as the Lord of the whole Creation). The text is a commentary on the copy of this type of the picture reproduced on the cover of the journal.
