Comparative study of value systems reflected in German and Bulgarian phraseology

Summary/Abstract: The article draws a parallel between set phrases /idioms/ from the German and the Bulgarian languages which reflect the systems of values of the two linguistic communities, serving as a semantic tertium comparationis in the process of comparison. The set phrases have been grouped according to the corresponding values in the two models. Separate semantic groups (and subgroups) of set phrases have been identified within each separate value. In the researched corpus, thirteen values present in both models of the value systems have been discovered, six pairs of values in distinctive opposition, as well as values, existing in only one of the two linguistic communities.
