Summary/Abstract: The presented text confirms the thesis that physiological states are reflected in language through phrasemes. Our research was based on a corpus of fixed lexical expressions containing the lexeme blood. We observed that various human emotions (mainly the negative ones) are connected with blood, e.g.: burzy siê w kimœ krew, narobiæ z³ej krwi, etc. The conclusion, based on the analysis of phrasemes, is that reactions of human body to experienced emotions are, in an unconscious way, verbalized in metaphors and then used as set phrases.
