Summary/Abstract: Macro level analysis below national level is greatly hindered by the low availability of macroeconomic data Several macroeconomic indicators are defined for national level, and even those data that are available, are not accessible at optional spatial breakdown. This way the lowest level breakdown of regional GDP relates to counties. This paper aims to determine the GDP of a city region, Győr and its agglomeration. In view of this at first the theoretical issues concerning city regions as units of analysis are reviewed then versatile estimates aregiven for the indicator. Finally the outstanding role of Audi Hungaria Motor Ltd. is discussed.
