Summary/Abstract: Martin Heidegger’s attend to reveal the original meaning of Greek term „ethos” – the topic of this article – implies a specific notion of both place and human deed. His concept of place shows the nature of a person’s action as a kind of living and being settled in their surroundings, also understood as the territory of thought. This idea of action, which doesn’t mean producing results, includes the identification of human act and thought, the rejection of traditional meaning of truth as adequatio and generally puts western ethics into question.
