Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present the evolution of the role and functions of the British monarchy, in comparison to other European monarchies, at the turn of the XX and XXI centuries. European monarchies were forced to deal with numerous social changes and unprecedented on such a large scale technological progress. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth II dramatically changed both, the political map of the world, as well as the dynamics of international relations. Despite the wealth of biographical studies or science studies focused on political system of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, there is no comprehensive, scientific study on the evolution of the role and functions of the British monarchy during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
