Summary/Abstract: Interview with Samuel Sandler by Przemysław Kaniecki This interview presents an academic career of Samuel Sandler until 1969 and the beginnings of the Institute of Literary Research of which he was one of the first employees. This literary historian claims that the key characteristics of the Institute at the turn of the 50s. was fluidity and a certain chaos – in respect to both organisational structure and research topics. The interview counters the so-called black legend of the Institute as the centre of Marxist thought.
