Summary/Abstract: The text discusses the importance of rational choice theory for political science. It considers if rational choice political science can establish predictive laws in politics. First, the paradox of rationality is discussed. Then, the author looks into its implications for parliamentary decision-making through McKelvey’s chaos theorem, and identify possible theoretical answers to it. The text concludes with a review of the theory on coalition formation.
