Summary/Abstract: Retirement is a new stage in every person’s life. It is undoubtedly a transitional period of change and new challenges. It should be noted that it will take different forms, depending on where the elderly go to spend their retirement. Will it be their own apartment, a relative’s house, or a social care home? This article addresses the problems of spending one’s old age in a retirement home. The main subject is the process of adaptation of the elderly to life in an institution and the factors influencing it.
