Summary/Abstract: Professor Gavrilescu, Mircea Eliade’s main character from the novella La Țigănci, is a continuous challenge for actors who dare adapt the work for stage in keeping with all the character’s wanderings, fears and bewilderment. In an interview, Richard Bovnoczki tells us how he understood his character and how he impersonated/ staged him based on the recipe proposed by Unteatru from Bucharest, thus avoiding common places and providing us with a realistic, genuine and emotionally strong character. His singular part sensibly and naturally connects us to Eliade’s text.
