Posthumanism: Between Metaphysics and Ethics

Summary/Abstract: This paper explores the key assumption for posthumanism, according to which developing new metaphysics will bring about the establishment of new ethics, which considers not only human, but also non-human beings. The article first reconstructs this view using an example of “new materialism” (R. Braidotti, J. Bennett, D. Coole, S. Frost), and subsequently discusses problems related to the justification of ethical reasons by metaphysical assertions, which occur within post-humanism.
