Summary/Abstract: China’s export-led, investment-driven and low labor cost model of growth is no longer sustainable in the long term, and the authorities are trying to rebalance the economy to more of a consumption-based growth model. The hidden potential of more than 1.3 billion Chinese consumers will probably make China the world’s largest consumer market and the top export destination for many economies. Polish exporters entered the Chinese market later than their Western competitors. Consequently the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Poland and China is in a very early stage of development and not so beneficial for the Polish exporter yet. The article presents the current state of foreign trade between analyzed countries. The main aim of this article is to present the prospects of the trade growth between Poland and China based on the profile of the Chinese consumer and People’s Republic of China’s market niches, which will be the most promising for the Polish exporters in the future. The article is an overview of recent research and surveys concerning Chinese customers and market trends. It also analyzes the trends of China’s government policies and development strategies in the context of opportunities for Polish exporters.
