Summary/Abstract: Forming of Starting Points for Sociological Interpretation of Crime. The paper deals with the problem of sociological reflection of criminality and the aetiology of criminality in present Slovakia. It characterises the present state of sociological interpretation of criminality. It resumes basic terminology and discusses the appropriateness of the use of the criminal law definition of criminality in sociological surveys. It tries to generalise sociological explanations of causes and conditions of criminality and reflects on potential relationship between the course of transformation processes and the increase in criminal rate in Slovakia.
